At Silver Lining Design, we believe every person and their home has a unique story to tell, and we are here to bring that story to life. Our design philosophy revolves around creating spaces that embody our client’s style and exude warmth, harmony, and individuality. We take pride in offering a range of services including interior design, home styling, staging, organizing, and special event design. Our unique process focuses on reusing items whenever possible to promote sustainability, providing tips for a more connected and sustainable lifestyle, and crafting clutter-free, organized homes.  

We take a holistic approach to every project and dive in with curiosity. With each client, we discuss their goals, style, passions, what brings them joy, and how they want their home to flow and function…all the little details. Our process is highly collaborative and deeply personal. On home and property staging projects, we thrive on creating an environment where potential buyers or renters feel welcome and can envision themselves living or working in the space, ultimately optimizing and accelerating the sale. Taking rooms from eh to amazing, seeing clients light up in the process, and doing it affordably drives us to excel in what we love to do.

Our founder

Our founder and principal designer, Jennifer Gilbert, has a unique background and skill set honed over the past 20 years. From leading the icon Dick Clark's corporate events division to handling branding, marketing, and sales for start-ups and Fortune 500 companies to becoming an advocate for sustainable design, textiles, and lifestyle, she knows how to make a story come to life. Combining this knowledge with her expertise in interior design, Jennifer crafts a space into a home that echoes her clients' personalities and aspirations, into a place that helps a property shine in the market, and into an event experience that connects and creates lasting memories.

Being raised in Chicago by a father who is an architect and a mother an interior decorator, Jennifer learned from a young age the power of design and the Midwest values of a strong work ethic, modesty, honesty, and doing what is right. The cultural richness of her upbringing shaped her worldview and design aesthetics. Being a wife and mother, she is steadfast in being environmentally conscious in everything she does.

Her personal journey of resilience and compassion was challenged recently when she and her family lost their home and all its belongings in the California Palisades Fire. Though devastating, the event guided her to find silver linings and be more intentional with her choices and actions, prioritizing things that bring her and others beauty and joy. Knowing how important and restorative a home is, she has made it her mission to make a positive impact through thoughtful design that inspires and uplifts people, their homes, and communities. This is our driving force behind Silver Lining Design.
